CFUW RECOGNIZES 5 NOTABLE WOMEN FROM THE UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S CLUB OF NORTH YORK AS PART OF CFUW’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
The University Women’s Club of North York is proud to announce that five of our members – Margaret McGovern, Louise Slemin, Barbara McNutt, Helen-Sue Gorman and Cathy Vendramin were honoured to receive the Canadian Federation of University Women’s Notable Women Award in gratitude for the role they have played in honouring and furthering CFUW’s vision.
More than one hundred awards were given to members of the Canadian Federation of University Women who have made outstanding contributions within CFUW and/or to the wider community; locally, nationally, or internationally in the fields of Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Political Engagement, Organizational Leadership, Cultural Endeavours, or Social Innovation.
As part of CFUW’s 100th Anniversary celebrations, the CFUW Notable Women attended a special reception at Government House which was hosted by the Honourable Janice C. Filmon, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.
Also, presentations of the Notable Women Award pins and certificates were made at the CFUW Annual General Meeting 100th Anniversary Notable Women Banquet held at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 16, 2019. This the same hotel where the official papers were signed to establish a national women’s organization named Canadian Federation of University Women on August 25th of 1919. And the rest is history…
